Bruce Eccles’ mom was an avid monarchist, so receiving the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for his work on behalf of the auto repair industry is more than just a passing honour.
“This is big,” said the beaming Dundas businessman.
The medal is given to Canadians for significant contributions and achievements and was created to mark the 2012 celebration of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty’s ascension to the throne.
Eccles, owner of Eccles Auto Service, was nominated by the Automotive Industries Association for his ongoing work to raise professional standards and develop strategic relationships with suppliers.
The award comes as Eccles is still recovering from a serious motorcycle accident in 2010. It took him several months before he could get back to the business he started in 1984.
In addition to his advocacy work, he is a sought-after speaker across North America. He routinely promotes best practices to business owners through the use of industry training, updated computer software solutions, website use, advertising methods and social media.
